Green for Your Health

The EPA has found that the air inside a typical US home is 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air outside, and in extreme cases up to 100 times more contaminated, largely because of household cleaners and pesticides. These products are supposed to make our homes cleaner, faster and yet ironically, conventional house cleaning products actually increase indoor pollution and promote health problems.

If you suffer from headaches, backaches, stiff joints, fatigue, mood swings, nausea, diarrhea, asthma or allergy attacks, dizziness, memory loss, stuttering, premature puberty, low sperm count, reduced motor skills, dyslexia, ADHD, anti-social behavior, autism, birth defects or tumors, toxic cleaning products may be the cause. Common household products typically contain carcinogens, neurotoxins, reproductive toxins, endocrine disruptors and other ingredients that can damage human and pet lungs, liver, kidneys, blood, skin, eyes and noses. Exposures can occur through the mouth, nose and skin and may be retained indefinitely in the body. Thus little, recurrent exposures can add up to bigger problems. The only healthy way to clean your home is with green cleaning.

Maid Brigade’s exclusive Green Clean Certified housecleaning service is unique among maid services. So unique, in fact, that it is trademarked. We are so committed to providing a healthier, cleaner home that we developed and tested our proprietary housecleaning system in literally hundreds of homes just like yours to get it just right.

Specific information about the standards our Green Clean Certified franchisees adhere to can be found in the Green Cleaning Standards section.

Green TV
We understand that it can be confusing and time consuming to learn about the hidden dangers of common cleaning products, and how green cleaning is safer for your health and the environment….especially when you already have plenty of things to keep you busy. But we also know that this information can prevent illness, even save lives. This is exactly why we’ve created Green TV. This brand new educational series is the latest in our efforts to “take the gray out of green” and help consumers get the information they need to start living cleaner and greener. Hosted by green living expert Annie Bond, the series covers a variety of topics, including:

• Common triggers of asthma and allergies found in the home
• Common symptoms people may experience if toxins are in the home
• Helpful tips to improve indoor air quality and incorporate "green" into each room of the home
• Advice on green cleaning practices that save water, energy and money
• Suggestions of alternative cleaning solutions to use around small children and pets in place of toxic cleaners.

The educational series can be viewed on the Maid Brigade sponsored educational site, www.greencleancertified.com.

Meet Annie Bond

Annie Bond is a nationally recognized green living expert and has been educating people on the topic for more than 20 years. Personal experiences with chemical poisonings in the 1980s forced Bond to adopt a green lifestyle and she’s been sharing her knowledge and practices with consumers ever since. She teamed up with Maid Brigade in 2007 to share her expertise on the health aspects of green cleaning as well as to help us increase awareness for Green Clean Certified™ system and green living overall.

Maid Brigade commissioned Bond to co-author and host GREEN TV. In addition to hosting the series, Bond applies her own expertise in the area and explains her personal experience with chemical poisonings that forced her to adopt a green lifestyle.

“As someone who is personally devoted to the cause of green living, I know firsthand how many people are becoming sick because of elements in their home,” says Bond. “I am pleased to continue working with Maid Brigade to help spread awareness of what we all can do to protect not only the environment, but ourselves.”
