Usually I don’t like to promote television shows on my blog, but “The Dr. Oz Show” had a very powerful show on today that I thought was important for every family to watch.
The show spoke about certain dyes and artificial colors that are banned from foods in the United Kingdom, but are found in the foods we eat and serve to our families here in the United States.
Some of these dyes, especially Yellow #5 and Yellow #6, have been shown to cause hyperactivity in children. Other dyes found in processed foods are actually petroleum-based. Some were even linked to asthma and allergies.
Dr. Oz also talks about the horse meat scandal in Europe and how horse meat was found in meat that was labeled “100% beef.” Could this be happening in the United States too?
We, as consumers, have a right to know what we are buying and what we are serving to our families!
Many large companies have formulated safer, better versions of their products for other countries, and yet these same companies use artificial dyes and other additives in their food products sold in the U.S.
