The Obama Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will analyze and regulate six high-profile, widely used chemicals that have raised health concerns. These six are bisphonal A (BPA), pththalates, brominated flame retardants, perfluorinated compounds (used in non-stick coatings and food packaging); some parafins, and benzidine dyes and pigments. It seems this is a list one needs to pay attention to and try to avoid onesself!
The EPA is gathering data from industry on the six chemicals to assess their safety and develop plans to limit people’s exposure. The EPA may restrict their use or require labels on consumer products to warn of risks. AFter the EPA has studied these seven chemicals, they will move on to more.
