Trying to kill two birds with one stone, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is launching a campaign to encourage schools, hospitals, jails and other institutions to buy food from local producers. The result of doing so will help reduce obesity by inspirig people to eat more fruits and vegetables, and at the same time provide income for small farms and boost the economies in rural areas. Buying food from local producers will also provide institutions with fresher food, richer in enzymes.
