Let’s face it…. why go to the store when we can shop at home in our pajamas on our computer and mobile phone? More and more people are choosing to shop for the holidays just like me…from the comfort of their own home.
And what better day is there to shop from home than Cyber Monday? Cyber Monday marks the biggest online shopping day of the year!
Cyber Monday is filled with all kinds of deals on the internet, but beware, because it also brings all kinds of scams, viruses, and malware. Experts say to be very careful when using devices such as the iPhone, smartphone and tablets to shop.
Be careful. Scams on the internet are more common during the holiday season because there are more people spending money online.
Because more people are going mobile, there are more scams to be aware of. Shoppers that turn to their mobile apps to do holiday shopping is a haven for cybercriminals.
Because so many people take advantage of the great apps out there, we don’t realize that we can leak malicious software through the apps, so make sure to read the reviews on each app that you download.
There are also antivirus software you can download for both Apple and Windows devices.
As far as social media is concerned, be careful of scams that ask you to “share, like, or click here,” for your chance to win a free iPhone or other item. These accounts are hijacked very easily, and it spams all of your Facebook friends too.
So when you do your shopping during today’s Cyber Monday, remember to get those great deals, but be careful, watch what you click on, and research!
