Finally…good news!!
According to recent statistics from the American Cancer Society, the overall death rate in cancer for the United States has dropped about one-fifth (or 1.2 million lives)between 1991 and 2009.
The statistics also show that death rates are continuing to fall for cancers like breast, prostate and colon, mostly because of improvements in treatment and early detection.
Lung cancer, which still remains the leading killer, has also dropped, probably because the number of smokers has declined.
